Ingredients
- 1 lb salmon* skin on or off
- salt and pepper to season
- ½ tsp paprika
- ¼ cup soy sauce
- 3-4 tbsp oil divided
- 2 tbsp honey
- 1 tbsp water
- 2 cloves garlic minced
- minced parsley optional
- red pepper flakes optional
Instructions
- Season salmon with salt, pepper and paprika. Set aside.
- In a small bowl or measuring cup, combine soy sauce, 1 tbsp oil, honey and water to make the sauce. Taste and adjust if needed.**
- Heat rest of oil in a pan over medium-high heat. When oil is hot, add salmon skin-side up. Cook salmon for about 6 minutes, then flip over.
- If needed, add another tbsp of oil. Add minced garlic to the pan and cook until fragrant, about 1 minute. Add sauce and cook another 5 minutes to thicken, basting the salmon at the same time.
- To serve, drizzle salmon with sauce and top with parsley and red pepper flakes. Serve with steamed vegetables, over rice or with a salad.
Notes
*Salmon can be pricey. If it’s difficult to access, frozen pollock fillets from Fare For All make a great substitution! Thaw the pollock and follow the recipe, cooking the pollock for about 5 minutes on each side.
**If you like lemon, add 1/2 tbsp to the sauce and serve the salmon with lemon wedges.
