The BRF Education Manager is a full time, salaried position based at our farm in Marine on St. Croix. This position is responsible for the oversight and management of Big River Farms’ Farmer Education Program and events, including the annual Emerging Farmers Conference. Our Farmer Education Program provides education, land access, and market opportunities annually for approximately 20 farm teams, primarily farmers of color, immigrant farmers, and others who face discrimination in farming. The Big River Farms Market Specialist exists to connect farmers in the Farmer Education Program to sustainable markets and provide educational opportunities to help them meet their marketing goals. The BRF Market Specialist provides quality education to farmers in post-harvest handling, food safety, marketing, and sales so that farmers become equipped to sell through direct-to-consumer markets such as farmers markets and CSA, as well as to wholesale buyers. The Produce Access Coordinator is a new position created through a Community Food Projects grant from the USDA, and is responsible for managing the production & distribution of food from a ½ acre plot to area food shelves. This position will also communicate closely with farmers in BRF’s Education Program to reduce food waste by planning in-field gleanings. Click here to learn more and apply.
This position will drive the Twin Cities Mobile Market buses on their routes and support retail services and operations on the bus. This includes greeting and assisting customers, cashiering, generating sales, monitoring inventory, general housekeeping, providing volunteer program support, as well as assisting with loading and unloading the bus and providing back up support to other warehouse functions as required. The Volunteer Receptionist will perform a variety of tasks depending on project deadlines in The Food Group office. This will include answering the phone and door and other administrative tasks as assigned by the Office Manager.
