Volunteers are essential to The Food Group’s operation. Last year, volunteers donated over 30,000 hours, the equivalent of $783,809.00. They packed food in our warehouse, tended our MicroFarm throughout the summer month, gathered donated food from the Minneapolis Farmers market, and gleaned food from orchards and fields in the fall. Thanks to tremendous support from individuals, corporations, teams, schools and community groups, we’re almost fully booked with volunteers in our warehouse until the month of August!
In addition to the commendable volunteer groups mentioned above, we also have volunteers in more specialized roles at each of our 38 Fare For All sites. Volunteers help to stock the shelves, cashier, bag groceries, arrange bread tables and push carts. Each of these sites also has a gracious volunteer coordinator that manages their location.
Last, but not least, we have volunteers help in the New Hope office throughout the work week. They assist with everything from cutting paper, to answering phones and entering data. We are currently in need of additional office assistants. If you’re interested in learning more about helping out in the New Hope office 3-4 hours during the work week you can contact Kristi LaMantia, our Office Manager, 763-450-3861 or [email protected].
Thanks a million to our volunteers. We don’t pay you because you’re worthless, but rather because you are priceless!
