The Food Group has a great many volunteers who are essential to our operation. During April, National Volunteer Month, we want to thank and recognize the thousands of volunteers that have contributed over 31,000 hours towards fighting hunger and nourishing our community last year. We truly couldn’t do this work without our incredible volunteers and we are so thankful for your support!
Volunteer Spotlight: Cargill Alumni
We are lucky to have so many incredible volunteer groups partnering with us in the fight against hunger. One volunteer group in particular, the Cargill Alumni, has been fighting hunger with The Food Group since 2008. Lead volunteer, John Tschumperlin, chose to work with The Food Group in large part because of our shared mission- Cargill is also in the food industry and works to bring good food to our community.
The Cargill Alumni group always arrives on time for their 9 – 11 am shift, and they usually work straight through their shift without any breaks. Talk about commitment to their community! This group’s work ethic is evident when they get packing food. Just within the past year they’ve packed an astonishing 132,678 pounds of Mega Meats, Produce Packs, Brunch Boxes and Canned Vegetables. Thank you, Cargill Alumni, for your past decade of service to our community!
The group effort of the Cargill Alumni, as well as the thousands of other volunteers at The Food Group each year, is what helps us to achieve our mission of fighting hunger and nourishing our community. We want to thank our incredible volunteers who fight hunger with us every day of the year. We couldn’t do this work without you!
