After careful thought, I concluded that it is time for a new chapter in my life and in the life of The Food Group. I will be leaving my role as executive director at the end of September.
Some of the things I’m most proud of during my nine years at The Food Group are:
- We focused on the distribution of more nutritious foods and in making culturally specific foods available to our food shelf and meal program partners;
- Revenue has grown by 58 percent, Fare For All sales have grown by 50 percent and we have tripled the number of food shelf and meal programs we support;
- Our merger with Big River Farms expanded our reach and our work in the local food system.
Because of these efforts more folks—including children, families and seniors—have access to nutritious foods allowing them to live their best lives.
None of these things would have been possible without the support of you, our incredible partners, donors and friends. Your partnership and commitment truly make our mission to fight hunger and nourish our community possible. I am so grateful to have been surrounded by this community of caring people all these years.
Our board of directors received notice with plenty of time to ensure a smooth transition. A team of board members is leading the executive search and transition process. The board’s energy and passion for our mission of fighting hunger and nourishing our community has never been stronger! Stay tuned for updates along the way.
At last year’s Hunger Bash event, I spoke about our desire to address the root causes of hunger. That’s what I’m focusing on during my remaining time with The Food Group. I am certain the good work of the organization and all our partners will continue to flourish. I will continue to be an active supporter, volunteer and advocate for the work at The Food Group long after my departure.
