Fruit Tree Harvests

Volunteer gleaners are needed each fall to help Fruits of the City harvest fresh fruits, that would otherwise go to waste, from backyards and orchards.  Since 2009, the program has harvested and delivered over 400,000 lbs. of fruit to area food shelves.  To see all of our current volunteer opportunities, visit our VolunteerHub page.

Food Group Farm

The Food Group operates a large volunteer-run garden in our own front yard. Volunteers are needed every week throughout the growing season to plant, water, weed, maintain, and harvest fruits and veggies.  All produce grown is shared, free of charge, with our partner food shelves.  New this year, we constructed a hoop house to extend our growing season and have an even greater impact.  Join us at a volunteer workday!  See our VolunteerHub page for all our upcoming Food Group Farm opportunities.

Register Your Fruit Trees

Have an apple or pear tree in your yard?  Have more fruit than you can use?  Contact Fruits of the City today to register your tree and start donating your fruit! Fruits of the City will organize teams of trained volunteer gleaners to harvest your surplus and share it with area food shelves.

Donate Your Garden Produce

Did you know you can donate fresh garden produce to your local food shelf?  We partner with backyard gardeners, community gardens, and farmer’s markets to grow, collect, and share fresh produce with our partner food shelves. Contact us today to connect with a food shelf near you.

Fruits of the City works with communities to help plant fruit trees and start giving gardens at schools, parks, congregations, corporate campuses, and other community spaces. Each year, the program partners with these communities and others to provide a series of educational opportunities aimed at helping community members improve the quality and quantity of the produce they grow and share with area food shelves.
